I enjoy old radios, typewriters, and daguerrotypes. Drinking tea almost always cheers me up, and fountain pens were never meant to be replaced. I am moderately good at languages, and learn best when I am teaching myself. I get frustrated when the librarian tells me I can't check out the book because it is in the reference section. It's not my fault that's where they put the interesting books.
Dogs and trees are some of my best friends. Crafting is what I do to relax. Music used to be my main creative outlet, but I don't have access to a piano any more.
Et interdum feror cupidine partium magnarum Europe vincendarum.
"The bread which you do not eat is the bread of the hungry; the garment hanging in your wardrobe is the garment of the one who is naked;the shoes you do not wear are the shoes of the one who is barefoot; the money you keep locked away is the money of the poor; the acts of charity that you do not perform are so many injustices that you commit." - Saint Basil the Great
"Poverty is an extraordinary way of salvation, since it nourishes humility, the root of perfection. Its fruits are manifold, though hidden. This is the Gospel treasure hidden in the field. To buy it we have to sell everything, and what we cannot sell, we should consider worthless in comparison to the treasure." - St.. Bonaventure, Major Life, 7:1
"The dress of the body should not discredit the good of the soul." - St. Cyprian of Carthage (200-258 AD)
"I slept and dreamt that life was joy.
I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold! service was joy."
-- Tagore
"The state of the World is most visible in the state of its children" -- Raffi Cavoukian
"Dumb people are no longer merely ignorant. Now they are indoctrinated, their minds conditioned with substantial doses of commercially prepared disinformation dispensed for tranquilizing purposes." -- The Underground History of American Education by John Taylor Gatto
"How can we live in harmony? First we need to know we are all madly in love with the same God." -- St. Thomas Aquinas
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." -- Thomas Jefferson
"It is not necessary to have great things to do. I turn my little omelet in the pan for the love of God." -- Brother Lawrence
"“Hypothoclese – the Greek hero who may be…” -- David
"Forgive me Oh Great One, your piece of paper is mightier than mine!" -- David
Help me stay home to work on crafts, cooking, and homemaking skills!
